Chris Kongo extended his undefeated streak to 12-0 by shutting down his rival Luther Clay in their recent meet up for the WBO Global welterweight title.
Kongo claimed the win via knockout in the ninth round, leaving a lot of fans surprised. While the contest was seemingly a close-call in the beginning, Kongo let his hands go from the fourth round.
In the fifth, he landed some power jabs on Clay and advanced heavily on the judges’ scorecards. Yet he did not let the judges decide his fate. In the ninth round, he made his ultimate statement by knocking out Clay for the world title.

Clay had already absorbed considerable damage before going into the ninth. Kongo landed one slick left hook to secure the win. However, it was not just the left hook that awarded him the win.
The undefeated Brit appeared sharp from the get-go. Using his long reach to its full potency, he successfully dominated Clay in the third round with lethal body hooks.
Predictably, Clay fired back with action. However, a sudden clung in the fifth round proved too costly for Clay. The fight was halted midway as Luther Clay was bloodied and bruised badly. However, he still advanced in the contest.
