Motorsport star exposes troll over sexist attack

Racing driver Danica Patrick is used to being a rare female in a male-dominated sport, and she didn't get as far as she has in motorsport without holding her own.

So when a social media troll targeted Patrick with an atrocious, sexist comment on her Instagram account, she didn't flinch.

Last month Patrick, 38, and NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers, 36, broke up after a two-year relationship.

The former NASCAR and IndyCar driver instantly became targeted by personal attacks on social media but one particular comment this week prompted her to hit back.

In a photo of Patrick with some friends, an account with no profile image and a generic account name commented: "At 38, its (sic) over for you in the relationship world with high value men. From a failed marriage to failed dating clearly you have a problem in dating."

Patrick, who retired from racing in 2018, replied by re-posting a screenshot of the offensive comment in her story.

"If we let what one person thinks of us be our reality, we are doomed," Patrick wrote.

"Realise that what someone says to us has a lot more to do with their own wounds and reality than ours.

"Our reality is our decision. Still not easy - but true."
