Serena Williams, the 23-time grand slam champion is arguably one of the greatest players in the history of the sport. Williams is eyeing to equal Margaret Court’s record of 24 grand slam titles at the US Open 2020 starting next week.
Recently, Newyork based Chase Bank organized a podcast ” Chase Chats”, where the host Jay Williams invited Serena Williams to talk about money habits, knowing your worth and playing without fans at the US Open for the first time.
“I have no idea. I think it’s going to be really weird. I think it would actually be good for some players that don’t like big fans, I definitely think I drive a little energy from the fans but you know, not too much because there’s been a long time during my career where I had to drive it from myself. So I am right in the middle, I really don’t know how’s it going to be.” said Serena when asked about how the experience is going to be without playing in front of the fans.
The presenter Jay Williams talked about Serena having participated nineteen times at the US Open and winning a record six championships. The former World No.1 was quick to remark “That’s it, out of nineteen. See that’s how I look at it. I have played nineteen times and won six. The math is off”.

After many top players withdrawing from the Master’s tournament, Serena will relatively have an easier route to the final. The former World No.1 awaits the winner of Alison Van Uytvanck of Belgium and the winner of the qualifier. The American is likely to face Johanna Konta in the quarterfinals and will potentially play against Naomi Osaka or Petra Kvitova if she manages to reach the final.
