Gamescom 2020 – 5 Games That Deserves Attention

The Gamescom 2020 opening event had a lot to showcase. While everyone might have taken note of the big names, there are a couple of games that we felt were pretty engaging. So, let’s take a look at the top 5 games from the event that have some huge potential.

Gamescom titles that deserve the spotlight

Dirt 5

Starting off the list is a title from the pre-show. What felt like a demolition derby had a lot going on as the reveal progressed. Dirt 5 by Codemasters is certainly looking to take things up a notch.

The Dirt 5 playgrounds trailer had interesting modes to showcase. For starters, you get an entirely new mode called ‘Create’. Here, you can build your own set of track and race like never before.

For building, you get different sets to go with. You have the Gymkhana, the platform blocks, the motorsport and the stunt show. You can customize your playground in any way you like. There are also some new game modes; Gate Crasher, Smash Attack and Gymkhana.

Towards the end of the trailer, we saw a new car that will likely be named ‘Vampire’. The trailer was engaging and it is certainly a game worth looking forward to.

Unknown 9 Awakening

Unknown 9 Awakening was a rather surprising reveal. The trailer had everyone hooked and wondering what it is all about. Set in India, the game is a take on ancient mysteries and secret societies. It follows the story of Haroona, a street-smart with the power to manipulate time and energy. As her story progresses, she learns more of her powers and the hidden world of mystery behind everything.

The trailer held a short and sweet memory for everyone who watched. Reflector Entertainment knew exactly how to put up a show and with some big names involved in developing the game, the expectations are sky-high

Dragon Age 4

Fantasy RPG Dragon Age series has enjoyed some great fan following. The next title was heavily teased during Gamescom leaving us with the task to imagine what’s coming.

Bioware looks to be developing a true game for next-gen consoles as the visuals were stunning. Though only a little was shown, the glimpses alone were enough to hype the title. This time, the world of dragon age will bring back frontier, stories, hard-boiled detective story to keep everyone engaged.

The new title will allow players to interact with people who grew up from the game’s era. Dragon Age 4’s plot will focus on the people around the players and the decision they end up making. Players own their own outcomes and the possibilities the game holds at the moment are endless.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart

The very last game that was showcased is one the fans adore. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, the PS5 exclusive dropped a new gameplay trailer. This time it focused on a foe; Dr Nefarious and his Dimensionator. This is where the core plot of the game begins.

As Ratchet tries to stop Dr.Nefarious and his weapon, the dimensions are disrupted. They then travel their way across multiple dimensions as Clank is separated from Ratchet. Clank ends up meeting another Lombax from a different dimension. Some of the footage was shown earlier, but now, we have a clear idea of what shapes the story.

The developers were reluctant on revealing much about the game. However, they did discuss how PS5 has helped enhance the experience. The dimensional shifts will be lightning-fast thanks to the powerful capabilities of the PS5’s SSD.

Furthermore, the DualSense controller also comes into play. Every weapon will feel different and players can tell what they are holding thanks to haptic feedback. Insomniac also revealed that the game will launch during the PS5 release window.

Little Nightmares II

Last on our list is Tarsier Studios’ Little Nightmares II. The gameplay reveal of the puzzle-platform horror adventure had me interested in what the game has in store for all of us. The developers did great with the horror elements as it was spooky and engaging at the same time.

The plot follows Six, the lead from the previous instalment as she encounters several other creatures that only the darkest could bring out. There’s also a new character to try out; Mono, a boy with a paper bag mask that could unravel some mysteries of his own.

Little Nightmares 2 will release on February 11, 2021, for PC, Xbox, PS4 and Nintendo Switch.

More coming to Gamescom 2020

The Gamescom 2020 opening night came to a close but this is not the end. More reveals on games, updates and more are set to drop in the coming days of the event.

If the event managed to thrill you up until now, it is sure to do so over and over again. There is a lot in store tomorrow, and we will be back covering that for you.
