The current-gen NBA2K21 demo was just dropped on August 24th, 2020. It gave us a glimpse of what to expect in the final game. One of the most hyped features of the new game is none other than the change in shooting mechanism.
The game gives us a new shooting meter with new sets of controls to work with. In fact, players will have to focus more on their timing while shooting the balll. Wondering why? Because if you screw up the timings the ball will miss everything. Yes, an actual airball is possible in the latest game in the NBA2K series.
How to shoot perfect jumpers in current-gen NBA2K21?
Mike Wang (NBA2K’s gameplay director) blessed the fans with some very useful shooting tips.
“For jumpers, hold RS down to start a shot. While still holding, adjust the aim by moving RS slightly left or right till the tick is centered in the meter. You can also tap LT/L2 or RT/R2 to lock the aim and time the shot for an additional boost.” revealed Wang.

If you’ve played any previous games in the series, it’s quite evident that shooting controls have been completely revamped. You need to work on aiming the shots properly otherwise get ready fof a cold shooting night.
Many NBA2K enthusiasts downloaded the demo and so far the game has received mixed reviews from fans. Here is how Twitter reacted to the current gen NBA2K21 demo:

Playing the NBA 2K21 Demo and man, you definitely need to get used to shooting in this one.

I have admittedly played very little NBA 2K over the last 3-4 years.
Currently in #NBA2K21 demo I'm grabbing ton of offensive rebounds. CPU makes terrible switches. There is no offensive ball movement.
I've also air balled three FTs despite 17 years of shooting experience.

Looking at the reactions from fans, the shooting changes have definitely caused a problem for players. Moreover, the graphics are not that much of an improvement from the previous. But that was pretty much expected for the current-gen game.
The developers’ primary focus is to make the next generation game better and which will launch on the new generation of consoles. Maybe we can expect a better gameplay experience in the next-gen edition.
Also, in the demo, you can only play up to 5 quick matches which is absurd. If the final game is no different from the demo then 2K should expect a drop in the sales as far as the current gen game in considered.
