Conor McGregor has had a history with the law, and not the good kind. This is from back in 2019 when TMZ reported footage that showed Conor McGregor swatting and smashing a cell phone that belonged to a fan.
Conor McGregor has had great success throughout his career. He won titles in two divisions and is by a decent margin the most famous fighter the organization has ever produced. However, with this kind of popularity also comes unwanted attention.
You’ve always got eyes on you. People watch every move you make and you aren’t allowed even a slip-up. In the case of McGregor, this was an incident he was involved in outside the Fountainbleau Hotel in Miami, Florida on the 11th of March 2019.
CCTV footage catches Conor McGregor
A fan stopped McGregor attempting to get a picture with the UFC star. McGregor, however, knocked the phone out of his hand. He continued to stamp on it before picking it up and leaving with it. The phone was valued at $1000 (760 euros).
He was charged with strong-armed robbery and misdemeanor criminal mischief. The Florida prosecutors dropped all charges against the MMA star. State prosecutors said that the alleged victim had gone abroad and stopped co-operating with the police. McGregor had supposedly already settled a civil lawsuit with the victim out of court.
The video is from a CCTV camera that captured the fighter getting involved in the altercation outside the hotel. Here is where the fame proved to be a con when the video went viral and the fighter faced a lot of criticism and backlash from fans.
In the previous year, the court ordered Conor to attend anger management training and perform 5 days of community service. This was done in exchange for dropping criminal charges for attacking a bus containing rival UFC fighters.
