A new study has discovered the top 100 highest-paid athletes in earnings per minute with some jaw-dropping results.
Over the last 12 months, OLBG looked at the money made by 100 of the world's richest athletes from the Forbes 2020 list, and focused in on athletes from football, boxing, MMA, American football, basketball and baseball.
They also removed those who hadn't played "significant number of minutes" in their sport, through injury or instance, and then broke down each athlete's minute-by-minute earnings while competing.
The research found that now retired UFC champion Conor McGregor was the top-earning athlete, with $US47,999,976 ($A67,232,030) per minute and he only needed a single second to make $US1 million ($A1.4 million).
American boxer Deontay Wilder came in second with $US1,095,238 ($A1,534,064) made per minute in 2020, followed by fellow boxers Canelo Alvarez ($A1,485,556 per minute), Tyson Fury ($A1,228,656 per minute), and Anthony Joshua ($A884,632 per minute) to round out the top five.
NFL players Kirk Cousins, Carson Wentz, Jared Goff, Julio Jones and Drew Brees completed the top 10.
