Reports: Snowboard champion Pullin dead in drowning tragedy

Winter Olympian and world champion snowboarder Alex Pullin is believed to have died after being pulled unconscious from the surf on the Gold Coast.

Dual world snowboard champion Alex ‘Chumpy’ Pullin is believed to have died while spearfishing on the Gold Coast.

Pullin was the flag bearer for Australia at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.

Police have confirmed a 32-year-old man was unconscious when dragged from the water at Palm Beach around 10.40am on Wednesday.

Lifeguards performed CPR but the man was pronounced dead just before 11.15am. 

While there is no official statement from police or the Australian Olympic Committee regarding the identity of the spearfisherman, the social media is awash with reports of his death.
