Athletes and fans around the world have paid tribute to Australian Olympic snowboarder Alex "Chumpy" Pullin who tragically died today at the age of 32.
Pullin was diving alone when he was found unconscious on the sea floor without an oxygen mask on the Gold Coast.
Pullin was a three-time Olympian and the flag bearer for the Australian team at the 2014 games in Sochi. He twice won gold at the boardercross World Championships.

Aussie track and field athlete Tamsyn Manou penned a heartbreaking tweet, hoping the tragic news was simply "not true."

"Extremely shocked and saddened to hear the news of Chumpy's passing," Hughes tweeted.
"Chumpy was a huge part of the Australian Winter team and will be sorely missed.
"It was an honour to be teammates and have raced alongside you. Sending my condolences to his family, friends and loved ones. RIP."
