‘No deal has been made for Pakistan tour to England’ clarifies Wasim Khan

Karachi: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chief Executive Wasim Khan has clarified that no deal has been made with the English and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) for a return tour to Pakistan’s upcoming tour to England this summer.

Wasim while talking in an interview with Sky Sports said that getting cricket back was the priority, He also admitted that he had been asked several times regarding a deal for a return tour.

“There is a lot of cricket to be played between now and 2022. I’ve had that question raised a few times; has there been a deal cut? Is something going to happen? But the simple fact is, and it’s a genuine answer that we need to get cricket back on again,” Wasim said.

The 49-year-old emphasized the importance of unity to bring the cricket back to normalcy and hoped that the teams like Australia and England will tour Pakistan in 2022.

“This is about getting cricket back on again. The cricketers want to play. I think it is important for the global game as well that we try to bring normalcy back to playing cricket again whatever that might look like over the next six to twelve months,” he added.

Now is probably not the time to try and leverage anything. Naturally things will take their course over the next two years. We have got a lot of home series between now and then, which hopefully will go successfully and we will give more confidence to the likes of Australia and England, who are due to tour in 2022,” he maintained.

It must be noted that Pakistan has to tour England for three Tests and as many T20Is. ECB had convinced PCB after positive talks over biosecurity arrangements during the tour. ECB proposed to start the series with the first Test from August 5 instead of July 30.

A squad of 25 players, both for Tests and T20Is, will arrive in England via chartered plan earlier in July, and players will remain in quarantine for 14 days before going out for training.
