Sebastian Vettel Explains the Feel and Joy of Driving an F1 Car

Sebastian Vettel pretty much lost his number of titles advantage to Lewis Hamilton 3 years ago. However, he still holds the title of youngest F1 world champion.

Meanwhile Red Bull and Max Verstappen are determined to swipe that record away from under the German’s nose. Interestingly, Vettel confessed that if that happens, he won’t beat himself up about it.

Verstappen missed out on the youngest pole-sitter and that went to Charles Leclerc instead. However, he did grab the Youngest Grand Prix winner title back in 2016. Vettel was 23 years and 134 days old when he clinched his maiden world title. At 22-years old, Max Verstappen has a golden opportunity to break the Ferrari driver’s record.

With 2020 a no-go, the following season is the Dutchman’s last chance to chase that elusive record. However, this doesn’t really bother Sebastian Vettel.

“I think the youngest doesn’t matter,” revealed Vettel in a video. “I think winning a championship has always been the thing I wanted to achieve.”

Sebastian Vettel misses driving his F1 car

Amid the extended F1 break, a lot of drivers are missing their high-speed office spaces. Vettel is one of them as he enjoys driving his Formula 1 car.

“I love the sensation in the car. I’ve tried lots of things but I haven’t found anything that gives me as much as putting on the helmet, getting into the car and trying to come out on top”, he continued. “Driving a Formula 1 car feels like something you want to do again, and straight away. I’m not sure if I do smile but I feel like I’m smiling when I drive the car.”

To be honest though, Sebastian Vettel’s F1 career is under a lot of scrutiny and many tipped him to leave Ferrari. However, there are three main camps, the ‘Vettel stays at Ferrari’, the ‘Vettel should retire’ and ‘Vettel should join another team’ camps.

For now, the 4-time world champion is not thinking about the future. Instead, he and every F1 driver are simply riding out the coronavirus storm. F1 is in the same predicament, owing to the coronavirus. This is because, several races faced cancellation or postponement.
