Most Annoying Things That Still Exist in the F1 2019 Game

F1 2019. Codemasters’ most ambitious venture till date in the world of Formula One. Not a bad game really, except its riddled with flaws and mind-boggling physics that’ll really test even the most patient of gamers. Here are 5 things which really grind my gears in F1 2019.

Shut up, Jeff!

Ah, the trusty team radio. It’s been a part of the F1 franchise for a while now but somehow, it’s gotten worse with every game. “Two cars at one, Nice!”

Whenever Jeff says that I can’t help but wonder if he’s had one too many. The radio bugs in this game can be unbearable at times.

Not the start we were looking for Codies…

F1 2019 – non-existent layouts

Next up, those imaginary bumps and physics-defying corners that send cars spinning into oblivion. You know the ones, the final bump at Suzuka and turn 12 at Sakhir.

It’s nice to see Codemasters taking a genuine interest in realism for once but these efforts are just laughable.

Safety ratings? who needs ’em?

Ranked lobbies in Multiplayer are an absolute joke. The safety rating system is flawed and does nothing to truly punish dirty drivers. You could be driving as cautiously as you like and all it takes is one evil driver to ruin your race.

The worst part is Codemasters’ penalty system which often punishes the victim. Imagine a real-life F1 race in which a driver who gets crashed into gets a 3 second time penalty!

Multiplayer as a whole can only be summed up as a mosh pit. Unfortunately, for those looking to truly compete with players around the world, a decent race is never an option.

Codies have to fix this in the upcoming game or risk losing their credibility at a rapid pace.

F1 2019 – more bugs!

Don’t get me wrong, F1 2019 is a visual masterpiece. Codemasters have knocked it out of the park when it comes to graphics but those pesky bugs can get nerve-wracking. For example, the game rarely deploys safety cars. Unfortunately, when they do turn up, its bugs galore.

The safety car ends up staying forever and sometimes the game struggles to keep track of positions. Sadly, this issue extends to VSC’s as well.

“Check your MFD for a new strategy”

Last but not least – strategies. This isn’t a bug per se but an area where Codemasters can really improve. Sometimes, I get the feeling Codemasters based Jeff on a real-life Ferrari strategist.

F1 2019 has come a long way since the dark days of F1 2014 but still lacks the punch. To actually get a decent result, more often than not, gamers need to double as strategists as they drive. A little more dynamic decision making wouldn’t hurt at all – Talk to me, Jeff!

Despite my harsh words, this game is every bit fun as it was during launch. All in all, fun to play but difficult to truly enjoy.
