There won’t be an end when it comes to counting the laurels that Serena Williams has earned during her four-decade-long stay on the WTA circuit. Time and again the 38-year-old tennis icon is lifting up the prestigious accolades and inspiring people across all generations.

Recently the 23-time Grand Slam Williams made it to the list of top 100 influential women of the last century of Time Magazine. They stated Serena’s achievements in the 2003 tennis season drove her into the list.

That year the superwoman Williams held as four Grand Slam at the same time. She was the fifth woman in the history of the sport to achieve that glory.

“Williams was only 21 years old. If she had reached her peak at that time, she would have deserved distinctions like an all-time great. The Open era – later, it has more influence than ever. Its influence extends far beyond the baseline,” Times Magazine stated.

After becoming invincible on the WTA Tour, Serena Williams began giving a new dimension to tennis. In the process of doing that, she was also tackling issues such as racism, meltdowns and quarreling with the match officials during professional tennis matches.

“She battled fatal injuries and illnesses, including a complicated delivery of her daughter Olympia in 2017. Months later, however, Williams returned to the women’s tour, at 36, as a working mom,” the magazine further justified her reward.

“Since then, she has reached the finals of four major events. Showing that women can embrace motherhood and work as long and exhausting as professional tennis.”
