Former World Number one Kim Clijsters continued to be impressive in Monterrey, Mexico this week. And now she plans to add another discipline of tennis to her agenda.
She will play doubles at Charleston Volvo Car Open 2020 alongside the former US Open champion Sloane Stephens. Clijsters has paired up with the 26-year-old player for the first time in her third tennis career.

In the doubles domain, Kim Clijsters won the Channel Slam (French Open and Wimbledon) in 2003 and consequently attained the doubles World Number one spot. Besides her Slam wins, the Belgian legend has also pulled off nine more WTA titles.
Before her doubles action in Charleston, USA, Clijsters will be seen on the courts of Sunshine Double in California and Florida. The two-time champion in the Palm Springs desert has accepted a wildcard for the Indian Wells event starting this month.

Kim Clijsters on her recent matches
Since her comeback in February, Clijsters has played two professional matches. One in Dubai against Garbine Muguruza and the other one in Monterrey against Johanna Konta. Despite her losses, he was contented with there performance in both her matches. At present, she’s constantly working on the small loopholes in her game.
“It’s a process that I have to trust and keep working hard to improve in every match I play. I’d like to take big steps but I have to focus on small steps and improving day by day,” she said.
Speaking about World Number 37 Sloane Stephens, she has just won one match on the WTA circuit (against Emma Navarro in Mexico). Besides that, her run on the tour has been shabby in 2020. Recently in Monterrey, the American was stunned by a 17-year-old from Canada Leylah Fernandez 6-7(4-7), 6-3, 6-3.
After defeating Stephens the qualifier Leylah earned her ticket to the quarterfinals of the tournament. And now, she sets up a battle against the top-seed Elina Svitolina in the last-eight round.
