Coronavirus might delay IPL 2020

As of now, more than 40 people have been tested positive for Coronavirus in India. Medical experts are constantly issuing alerts and advice to ensure everyone can stay safe. One of the main concerns of IPL 2020 is the gathering of large number of people (over 50,000) at one venue.

BCCI dismisses all rumours regarding the event reschedule

Suggestions such as the delaying the event or just making it stream digitally are making rounds. However, the BCCI officials in-charge of making this event happen are dismissing these rumours. They are assuring the fans that the event will proceed as per existing plans.

“Did you guys check out what was the attendance during the ATK vs Bengaluru FC Indian Super League play-off game? It was close to 60,000 (50,000 plus). So why would we bar public viewing?”

However, BCCI president, Sourav Ganguly, has made it abundantly clear that the organisation is taking all health-precautions necessary.

The second concern is the fan engagement activities that is quite prevalent in Indian Premier League. These engagements are a part of the commitment that both management and sponsors agree upon. As of now, the management of each franchise is yet to issue their decision regarding the engagement activities.

The first match of IPL 2020 is between defending champions Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings.
