“Hopefully We’ll Get That Chance” – Jamie Wants to Partner Andy Murray at Wimbledon

Andy Murray is a man determined to get himself fully fit and back to competing on the professional circuit. After a couple of years full of injuries and despair, he is gradually making his way to full match-fitness. His brother, and professional doubles player, Jamie, expressed his hopes of partnering up in a Grand Slam before either one retires for good.

Looking at Andy’s titles and achievements in tennis, there is little doubt he is a special player. He carved out a reputation for himself, won multiple Grand Slams and even proceeded to rise to the very top of the ATP Rankings.

While quite a few players have managed this over the years, very few have in this formidable era. Moreover, the Briton even has a unique record to his name- two consecutive Olympic Gold medals in singles tennis.

Andy Murray optimistic about his fitness

It would do his reputation no harm should Andy Murray retire from the sport tomorrow; he will remain an iconic player, always remembered in the history of the sport. However, he will be a huge miss as has been the case in the past couple of years.

Jamie is optimistic about their chances of featuring together.

“We don’t know what will happen with Andy’s hip but we hope he’s going to get back fit and healthy and get back on to the court. I haven’t seen him for a while – this break will give us the chance to catch up but I know he’s been practicing which is good news. We’ve always said we wanted to play Wimbledon one time together before we stop and hopefully we’ll get that chance.”

It would certainly be a treat for the fans to watch the duo partner up on the Wimbledon grass.

Andy recently gave a positive update on his fitness as well.

“I’ve been practicing on the courts the last couple of weeks and been feeling quite well. Practiced two, two-and-a-half hours some days and it(the injury) has been responding well so fingers crossed it stays that way.”

Andy could very well be fit in time for the Championships. However, it remains to be seen if the event goes ahead as scheduled, given the current situation across the planet.
