Frustrated Dana White Makes a Stephen King Reference to Describe 2020

UFC president Dana White might have felt the happenings in 2020 is not far away from a gripping novel. That is what his recent post on Twitter suggested. A day after White had to postpone the next three UFC events, he tweeted an image on Tuesday that read: “Apparently this year is being written by Stephen King”.

Stephen King is an American fiction novelist known for his works in different genres including apocalyptic fiction. One such novel of his, The Stand, is about a bioengineered flu that leaks out of the military base to spread around the world. Published in 1978, the plot revolves around an apocalyptic pandemic that eventually destroys most of the world population.

While the current coronavirus pandemic is currently nowhere near as dangerous, a few people have drawn parallels to it. Apart from Dana White,  few others on Twitter also found similarities between the current happenings and King’s writings.

Stephen King has already answered Dana White and others who compared 2020 to his writings

While many have been comparing 2020 to King’s writings, the American novelist has already clarified that the coronavirus pandemic is nowhere near his novel “The Stand”. “No, coronavirus is NOT like THE STAND. It’s not anywhere near as serious. It’s eminently survivable. Keep calm and take all reasonable precautions,” a recent tweet from King’s official twitter handle read.
