Virat Kohli couldn't hide his frustration following India's big loss to New Zealand, with the India captain taking aim at his side's effort while also getting into it with a Kiwi reporter.
New Zealand romped to a seven-wicket victory over Kohli's men in the second Test in Christchurch for an emphatic 2-0 series sweep of the world's top-ranked side.
The Black Caps dismissed the tourists for 124 in the first hour of day three before chasing down their 132-run victory target with the loss of just three wickets.
Kohli, who was seen swearing at the crowd on day two, was extremely disappointed in his side's efforts.
"We were completely outplayed in this series, and obviously did not play the kind of cricket that we do play as a team," Kohli said.
"We were not positive enough, we were not brave enough."
The loss was also compounded by Kohli losing his world No. 1 batting ranking following a string of low scores.
When asked about his behaviour after the Test, the India great got into a heated discussion when questioned by a local reporter.
The exchange went like this.
Reporter: "Virat, what's your reaction to your behaviour in the field yesterday? You were swearing at Williamson when he got out, swearing at the crowd. As India captain, do you need to set a better example and tone it down a little bit on the field?"
Kohli: "What do you think?"
Reporter: "I asked you the question."
Kohli: "And I'm asking you the answer."
Reporter: "There's quite a few reports that you did so do you need to set a better example?"
Kohli: "You need to find out exactly what happened and then come with a better question. You can't come here with half-questions and half-details of what happened. And also if you want to create controversy, this is not the right place to be. I've spoken to the match referee and he had no issues with what happened."
The thumping victory in the first Test in Wellington did much to ease the pain of New Zealand's miserable tour of Australia over the New Year and the series sweep underlined how tough it is to beat the Black Caps at home.
"Outstanding," skipper Kane Williamson said.
"I don't think the end result reflected how tight that match was. As we know, there's a fine line. India are a world class side, top of the comp, so a great effort from the guys."
India only managed scores of 165, 191, 242 and 124 in the last two Tests, reflecting Kohli's low contributions of 2, 19, 3 and 14.
New Zealand are now unbeaten in their last 13 home Tests, winning nine of them, and in the past decade their record as hosts is played 39, won 20, drawn 13 and lost five.
